Set Goals the SMART Way!

Specific

Make a goal which helps explain how, where, when and what you want to accomplish.  For example, a specific goal would be "BE AWARDED MY PERSONAL BEST SCORE AT SECTIONALS"

Measurable

You will measure your goal by it's accomplishment-receiving higher points than at previous competitions.

Attainable

Your goal must be something that you can actually accomplish.  You need to make sure that the goal you set is something that you are capable of.

Realistic

You must be certain that the goal is within your grasp.  If you are a Preliminary level skater, it is highly unlikely that you will make it to the Olympics for 2010!  It is just not possible.

Timely

You must also set a time limit for your goal to be reached.  Giving your goal a deadline will keep you on track!

Use the Goal Setting Sheets provided to help yourself set some SMART goals.  After you have PRINTED and FILLED OUT the sheet, bring it back to your coach. Your coach can help you map out a plan for reaching your goals.
